Diplomatic Maha Thingyan Festival held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Yangon

Welcoming the Myanmar Lunar New Year of 1385, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of International Cooperation hosted a Diplomatic Maha Thingyan Festival to celebrate the traditional Myanmar Lunar New Year in the morning of 15 April 2023, Saturday, at the garden of the Myanmar Institute for Strategic and International Studies (MISIS), Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Yangon.

On this occasion, H.E. U Kyaw Myo Htut, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and his spouse, the diplomats with their family members from the foreign Embassies, representatives from honourable consulates and foreign business organizations based in Yangon, Chairman of the Myanmar Institute for Strategic and International Studies, Directors-General and officials including their family members attended the event to join in the meaningful and joyous moments.

In his welcoming remarks, the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs highlighted the importance of the Thingyan festival and offered his well-wishes to all participants for Myanmar Lunar New Year and Thingyan 2023. During the course of the day, the guests were served with the taste of Myanmar through the traditional snacks and desserts and enjoyed getting soaked from water splashing.

Afterwards, young maidens from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of International Cooperation performed the guests with traditional Thingyan dances and songs.
